Aberdeen partners Weave Living to buy six Tokyo residential properties

Aberdeen Investments is buying 6 properties in Tokyo in partnership with Hong Kong-based rental accommodation provider Weave Living.

Five of the properties will be operated as furnished versatile rental flats under Weave Place– a label taken care of by Weave Living. The sixth possession will remain to be run as a traditional built-to-rent housing property.

“As part of the accelerated growth of our incorporated living sector-focused funds management organization in Japan and across Asia Pacific, we are delighted to declare this business venture with Aberdeen Investments,” said Sachin Doshi, founder and CEO of Weave Living.

The real estates are being obtained on behalf of a European financier that is a continued affiliate of Aberdeen in the region, the international asset supervisor mentioned in an Aug 17 release. The package value was not revealed.

The acquisition will certainly strengthen Aberdeen’s Japan living portfolio, which ranked at 57 properties with a total valuation of around JPY150 billion ($1.2 billion) since June.

The properties will accommodate expanding interest for versatile living services in Japan, claimed Harumi Kadono, Aberdeen’s director of Japan realty. “Partnering with Weave Living gives us an experienced supervisor on the ground in Tokyo and allows us to satisfy that need with an authentically separated rental product,” he included.

Meanwhile, Weave Living’s Japan account has grown to about JPY110 billion ever since it went into the market in 2023.

The properties being bought were protected off-market with Weave Living. Comprising an overall of 275 non commercial units, all 6 real estates were completed between 2023 and 2026. They stand around different wards in main Tokyo, throughout a 10-minute stroll of the nearby train terminal.
